# Regional Rules

#### Understanding Regulatory Regions

After saving, you'll see "Regulatory Regions" listed for your property.

What are Regulatory Regions?

These are our internal monitoring tags that track which local, state, or federal laws apply to your property.

Examples:

* City of Phoenix, AZ: Source of Income protections required
* City of Tempe, AZ: Source of Income protections + special occupancy rules based on relationships
* State of California: Fair Chance Act limits on criminal history screening
* State of Oregon: Strict limitations on background and eviction screening

What we do automatically:

* Monitor your property's location
* Apply mandatory overlays to your criteria
* Prevent you from editing settings that conflict with local law
* Keep you compliant as laws change

What you'll see:

* List of applicable regulatory regions
* Automatic criteria adjustments marked as "mandatory regional rule"
* These appear in gray and cannot be edited

Why this matters: You don't need to research every local ordinance. We track these automatically and enforce compliance at the property level.
